Executive Summary
CDAC is a not for profit organization, registered in Geneva, Switzerland as a Non-Governmental Organization under Swiss law.
Mission statement:
CDAC aims to promote and develop comprehensive Dialogue among Civilizations as an essential way to advance and strengthen security, peace and development.
Through:
- Initiating, coordinating and implementing related research and action-oriented programs in partnership with other stakeholders.
- Fostering in particular the development and strengthening of the spirit and culture of dialogue in order to improve the quality and results of interaction.
- Concretely affirming universal human values and ethical principles to sustain the development of a peaceful and prosperous global society, committed to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Target audience:
- All sectors of society, with a particular focus on the younger generation.
Principle activities:
- CDAC Research project “Golden Rules of Dialogue”: Establishing a manual, containing essential elements for constructive dialogue. Creation of educational programs for Universities, parliamentarians and diplomats as well as materials for the media and other interested parties.
- CDAC Center: Connecting and training of/for Youth, NGO’s and other interested organizations. Establishment of a database on dialogue related organizations, events, news. Facilitation and coordination of dialogue and youth related activities.
- Cultural programs:
Art exhibit "Artists for Dialogue" at the Palais Wilson (Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights) Vernissage: 20 September 2007.
Internal structure:
- The Executive Board (EB) meets two times a year to define the strategic direction of the organisation. The Secretary General and his staff run the day to day activities and report to the EB. The EB may also call from time to time upon the services of the Advisory Board.
- For different programs CDAC hires project related staff which report to the Secretary-General.
Outputs
1. Online knowledge sharing:
CDAC gathers information on dialogue related organizations and activities from a wide range of global sources and offers them on line in the form of directories, manuals, best practice studies, declarations, portraits, events and a regular Media update.
2. Education:
Through educational programs, public activities, the Internet and publications, CDAC will promote the spirit and culture of dialogue as an effective tool to successfully tackle current challenges.
3. Awareness raising & advocacy:
Through various action-oriented programs CDAC will contribute to raise awareness for the urgent need to pilot the most pressing global issues in a non-violent and constitutional democratic way.
CDAC will advocate and implement strategies and concrete actions in partnership with other organizations and institutions.
